A restaurant website the owner runs alone.

Ramen Bambu is a ramen bar at Oudburg 54 in Ghent, a few minutes from Gravensteen. I chose it for a concept: a working website proposal, made without being asked, to show what a local restaurant site can be.

Concept work. This is an unsolicited proposal, not a client project. The demo carries the banner “Concept design — a proposal for Ramen Bambu – details subject to confirmation”.

For a small restaurant, the website is often the one thing nobody in the kitchen can change. A new dish, a new price or a holiday closure means asking someone else. The concept answers one question: what if the owner could do all of that alone, in Dutch, French and English?

• Research. Public information collected first, with the source of every photo and fact documented. Prices without a confirmed source are marked as estimates.
• Design. A dark, ingredient-led look with my own SVG and CSS animations for steam and ingredients.
• Build. A static site on Cloudflare Pages with responsive AVIF and WebP images and self-hosted fonts, so it stays fast on a phone.
• Admin. Cloudflare Pages Functions and a D1 database behind a password login, made for the owner, not for a developer.

• The full website in Dutch, French and English.
• An owner admin panel with a password login and three tabs.
• Menu: name and description of every dish in NL, FR and EN, price, category, and an “estimate” flag.
• Opening hours: edited by the owner, shown on the site.
• Announcement: a short message in three languages, for a holiday closure or a new dish.
• A pitch for the owner, with QR codes to open the demo on a phone.

The demo is live, and the admin panel works. Ramen Bambu did not commission it, and details on the demo are subject to their confirmation. The same approach, a fast site plus an owner admin panel, is the DreiWorks service for local businesses.
